Initiative Update

2021 Routine Medicine Outreach for Sickle Cell Warriors.

As part of my yearly #BreakTheSilence...#BeASickleCellVoice colour awareness campaign in June, we raised funds to continue our routine medicine project started last year to provide essential routine medicines to persons living with sickle cell disease.

During the campaign, with the use of my social media platforms, I was able to raise 1.5 million frs CFA with support from friends and family and some who have been following my campaign over the years.

This made it possible for us to provide this essential medicines (Folic acid and paracetamol) to 250 warriors in Bamenda and Kumba. The folic acid was 100 tablets in each packet given to last each recipient 3+ months.

Additionally, about 80 warriors in Bamenda were able to learn basic survival skills like manicure, pastry making, skills that could easily be harnessed to help them take better care of themselves.

In Kumba, partnering with Sister Nakinti's Rescue Women (REWOCAM), we were able to include water bottles to encourage hydration as the warriors go back to school.

Some warriors were helped with cash to offset medical bills while a warrior benefited from start up cash to grow his business idea.

This has made it possible for us to be able to reach over 500 warriors since we started this project in July 2020.

This is an ongoing project and the wish is that with continuous financial support to buy these essential medicines, we will be able to reach even more warriors across the country.
