Collaboration is the new Competition

Striving for collaboration requires a mature, open-minded perspective that believes in the \"greater good\", in the abundance mentality - that there is enough for everyone, and that more can be gained from cooperation than from competing. Collaboration can push our deliverables to be more innovative and sustainable-driven for the community we serve, our marketplace and even our beneficiaries.

In my last post, I shared how we were still in need of more women mentors to come onboard for the Project Kuongoza mentoring program due to large number of young girls in MENA nations and Sub-Saharan countries still waitlisted. After discussing with my team on how we can scale and reach more professional women, we decided to leverage on our existing network and fellowships we are in. Thankfully, we established partnership with the Society of Women Engineers within a month in getting women signed up, the Yunus and Youth; Brazil was happy to help me as a Fellow in sharing the opportunity across its network and Liverwire UAE offered the needed strategy and operations consulting in sustaining Project Kuonogoza.

Today, we have an additional number of 75+ women who are committed to offer their time, resources and knowledge to see these girls succeed in STEM. I understand that now, more than ever, young women need collaboration and more seasoned women to provide that encouragement, to take a risk, and to go for it.

Collaboration is more than just a buzzword for today’s community. We found a common ground with partners and worked together to achieve a common goal. When there is mutual satisfaction with both the process and the outcome, the likelihood of productive implementation of decisions and plans is greatly increased.

This taught me we collaborate to win. To Create disruption. To Learn from others' experience. To deal effectively with a more diverse market/ community and to network towards a Win-Win interest.

Mother Theresa said, \"None of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.\"
