I have found it=the solution to ending poverty

Could you stop for a second and imaging the world!! A world full of abundance that can cater for its people, and now look at what’s going on around us- the reality- conflict, crisis, diseases, famine and over all poverty, all as the result of greed of mankind. Not all though, but we (women-young and old) are the center of vulnerable groups during crisis and conflict where we are the victims and suffer the most. After conflict it is even worst. Sicknesses like HIV/ AIDS and others, we are the number one carrier, we are the least educated in the world, the poorest of the poor lies in our name and yet we give birth to the world’s population, oh! how sad. It is time we change the course of history= In vest in a girl and she will do the rest= a healthy and wealthy family; a healthy and wealthy community; a healthy and wealthy nation; a healthy and wealthy world. Isn’t this the solution? Now let’s get practical here!
All we need is the opportunity then we are ready to explore and change the world. Educate and empower a girl/woman, she is incline to make decision for herself and stand by them, she impact her family with the knowledge, her family know exactly what development means, she has a hale and hearty family, her nation liabilities reduce on the number of children she bring forth, she’s aware and know how to keep her environment and family healthy and safe, she is capable of contributing to the economy, her nation get better and the world is safe. This is it!

Now knowing the solution is one thing, but acting the solution is another. As the Executive Director of the Paramount Young Women Initiative (PAYOWI) whose motto is “Empowering and educating young women” I am committed to the cause that women need to be empower as a remedy to ending poverty.
The Paramount Young Women Initiative, established in 2005 a year after the crisis in Liberia, has impacted and is impacting the lives of many young women through scholarship, financial aid, peer group meetings, book club, runs, mentoring program, intellectual discourses, community development and so on.
We have established girls club in universities, high schools and communities with the sole purpose of empowering and educating young women and girls through leadership programs, financial literacy and health. Our programs have been able to developed skills of young women and make them strong decision makers. This initiative is unique in that young women themselves are the brains behind this process and are committed, passionate and involved in reaching their goals by getting women educated and empowered. In Liberia, there is a struggle for bridging the generational gap between the older generation of women and the younger once. We have the first female president of Africa and yet only 15% of women are in government, there is a lack of linkage between the older women and the younger women. Interestingly, the young women are the most vulnerable population with high rate of unintended pregnancies, school dropouts, commercial sex work, HIV/AIDS, fistula, early marriage, rape , Gender Based Violence/ SGBV, lack basic opportunity, lack economic empowerment, Sexual exploitation, unemployment etc. We are contributing immensely to the rebuilding process of our post conflict country by empowering women through education.

We have find the solution to ending poverty-that is empower her and she will empower the world with this poverty has no place!!!
