International Day for Victims of Violence Based on Religion or Belief

Good day from this side of the world dear World Pulse members. Today we're observing the International Day for Victims of Violence Based on Religion or Belief.

As a religious minority in Kenya, I can attest that being a religious minority with certain observations like my headscarf is not easy. Especially for a region like mine which is only not familiar by many people beyond Western Kenya.

At sometimes I get so many people judging my Ability to do a task due to my religion. With the current trends in Kenya around Religious Brainwashing stories, I have been at stake with most people relating to some of my observations to being brainwashed.

I find myself in a conflict of interest with those who require explanations for some of the observations that I do. But since I have been harshly judged after explaining myself, I have resorted to not explaining myself unnecessarily. Not unless it's a person with whom am sharing my story with.

I have been asked questions on why I should work with individuals from diverse city conflicted intersentinalities like the LGBTQIA who are always facing a lot of backlash from the christian communities. But my response is always simple. I don't stand a chance to harshly subject a person to social judgment without hearing their side of story. Besides, that's their life and if it doesn't affect me and my personal space negatively, I respect their beliefs. Their Identity is their rights. I am a global Leader that means I need to serve and work with people with respect to equity, equality, diversity, inclusion peace and security as my long-term beliefs and values. That's exactly why I decided to become a certified Human Rights Consultant.

We ought to treat everyone with respect. We are not entitled to judge anyone by their looks, identity, cultural practices, religious beliefs and practices, as long as they don't affect our lives negatively in any way.

Thank you so much for reading this.
