 etc.

Merci beaucoup ! À la prochaine.

Difficulties that intellectual girls face in Bukavu

Even if its a given that girls should be educated, their access to schooling is limited.

It is estimated that at least 20% of women are victims of physical violence or sexual assault. And these assults are often committed by a man in the family.

This is why several intellectual girls experience so many difficulties, above all ones linked to access to work.

For example:

  • In Bukavu, before a girls starts any job, she has to first has to have sex with the boss of this business.

  • Accepting to be the wife of the head of any business or institution before being accepted as an employee there.

  • Once she easily lands the job, she will be mistreated by, either the director (head of the business), or by the dependants of her household, who give her so much work to the point that she always leaves for work very tired. And this lasts her entire life.

  • Even for those who still go to university, they have difficulty continuing because of certain professors who bother them too much at school wanting them to engage in academic marriages with them.

  • etc.
