Agwammawomen nonprofit Outreach has different sections of our Community projects/programs. In November 2022 up to February 2023, our Technology and ICT section conducted a hitch free virtual Workshop for women around the world for Free.

This remote workshop started with a simple post on a Tech Facebook group, on the 7th of November 2022, by Jackie calling for Tech experts in that group willing to empower our Nontech sisters hungry to learn Tech skills/ICT.

On that same day there were more than 100 Women who replied to that post indicating interest to be part of the workshop.

I was amazed by their hunger to learn different skills because, i though that group was dominated by Tech Experts so i wasn't looking for nontech women responses but needed Volunteer Tech Experts willing to help me train Nontech women for Free.

So surprisingly, 99% of the comments i got on that post were from Nontech women mostly living in the united states and few from Zimbabwe, Nigeria, L

Below is the first comment i got.

* "What a great idea!! I've signed up with so many boot camps and free courses and so lost. I don't understand the language. I've been in social work for 20 years.

I had given up because I was like why go through when you don't really understand. Mentorship for a career change is needed. Thank you." *

The women responses were overwhelming that i immediately created a Telegram group where we finally convened and kicked off our Zoom Tech Workshop trainings.

Why i brought this memory up is that, you will see tons of sites talking about 'Women in Tech' and when i reasearch them, most of them revolve around women already with tech skills organizing activities/projects revolving around themselves leaving out millions of nontech women scattered across the globe. Don't get me wrong, this does not mean there aren't tech women organizations helping nontech women to learn but they aren't much.

Like the post i made in that Facebook group, i was looking for Experts but it turned out, that Group has more nontech women than tech experts and most were there looking for open opportunities to learn tech skills/Ict.

If you read the comment of the first lady that responded to that post, you noticed she already went to paid bootcamp but didn't understand much.

The majority of ladies interested in their comments, were similar to hers because, in that call i made, i talked about how complex ICT and Tech skills are and the need to help out our nontech sisters learn to be more resourceful and get good jobs.

My major aim to set up the FREE workshop was to create a relaxed, flexible platform where nontech women could learn and comprehend what they learnt thereby using their ICT/Tech Skills acquisition to earn and upgrade their earnings in their various careers/business.

Again for those who had no jobs then, such training was to enable them find jobs faster because we are in the technology and ICT era and, if an applicant has no tech/Ict skills, it is very difficult to land a good job.

That workshop was completed successfully and we are still open to update and make it even more resourceful to our girls/women in Africa and to any woman no matter your race or location. Whenever we get tech experts willing to volunteer to train our non tech women remotely or live in Malawi, we will kick it off oncemore.

Acquiring ICT skills in our present age is very vital to every girl who wants to succeed in the business/ career world.

Again if we start early to train our girls in ICT and Tech skills, by the time they grow into womanhood, the technology industry and it's innovations will not be too strange for them to understand and implement.

Finally, Agwammawomen is very grateful to WorldPulse to include this area and making it a priority in our girls lives. 👏🧡

We also use this opportunity to reach out to ICT/ Tech Experts reading this and happy to volunteer to help us Train our Girls in Malawi both virtually and live to collaborate and partner with us to empower our girls. âś’đź’•đź–Ą
