MOHCAM's Menstrual Beads is a Prevention mechanism to curb teenage pregnancies in schools and rural communities.The beads are designed in three colors to help adolescent girls identify the safe and unsafe periods during their menstrual cycle.The red color signifies blood,the black signifies the unsafe period and the white signifies the safe period during menstruation.Girls are trained on how to produce their beads and also they also educate other girls. These Beads are aimed at reducing adolescent pregnancy,ending child marriage,keeping girl's at school and empowering girls to make informed choices about their health and lives.\"Let girls be girls\"

Adolescent pregnancy, unwanted child bearing are growing public health concerns in Cameroon. Adolescence constitutes a period of rapid growth, both physical and emotional. It encompasses young people aged 10 to 19 years. Adolescent pregnancy is considered as high risk and is associated with high rates of obstetric and psychological complications.

Adolescent pregnancy is pregnancy in a female under the age of 20. This has serious consequences on mothers, children, families and communities. Mothers and children grow up with high risk of poor health, less education, and poor economic outcomes.Having a child during her teenage years limits girls' opportunities for better education, jobs, and income. Complications from pregnancy and childbirth are the leading cause of death among girls aged 15-19 years.Having children at a young age is risky in Cameroon. Girls aged 15 to 19 who give birth are at higher risk of dying due to their pregnancy, and also are at higher risk of infant or child mortality.
