2020 Reroutes and Unexpected Surprises

I have not posted here for quite some time but for the past year, I have been busy rerouting priorities and reorganizing plans. I believe that many people have done so as well, rather than succumbing to depression or helplessness. It is quite interesting how this health crisis has reoriented the way we manage and look at things. In 2020, I have made the decision to focus more on my writing and getting them released. Hurrah!

For my first book project, I have finally made my 9-year old dream come true of publishing my picture book entitled Harriet Pat and Her Hat. Although I enjoy writing for adults, I also love writing for young readers. My goal is to present everyday lessons through the lens of a child and dive into serious themes but made lighter. I think that children are more perceptive than what we give them credit for. In Harriet Pat and Her Hat, I play with the messages about becoming your own hero, harnessing your own uniqueness, and teaching sustainability.

Since I started talking about it on my Facebook page The Book Den, I have been blessed with love and support for this little book project. I am very grateful. For this, I have decided to give back and share the story of Harriet Pat and Her Hat for free on Amazon. So for 5 days from January 8 to January 12, 2021 (starting at 12:00 AM PST to 11:59 PM PST), Harriet Pat and Her Hat's e-book version will be FREE ($0.00) for all Kindle marketplaces. So please, if you want to read the story or read it to your favourite little person, download away and add it to your e-library! I have shared a similar post on Facebook narrating my surprise by the book's turn out.

I am now working on making this book project grow by translating it into my mother tongue, Bisaya, and to hopefully promote it to young learners in the Philippines where there are not many rhyming picture books written in Bisaya. Also, I am working on the next picture book (to see the character sketch, click HERE) and a collection of short inspirational essays, much like the ones you have read in my previous posts, which will be for older readers. Yes, it is all about writing, writing, writing.

Happy reading and do tell me what you think about it. :)
