2020 - Women take the Lead

Young girls have often been considered an invisible voice. Their life is suppressed under the weight of cultural beliefs and stereotypes which ask them to stay silent and adjust with whatever  happens around. Girls get conditioned in such a way that their life remains not only silent but they  follow the others' ( predominantly the male voices) through out. The saddest part is when girls have to hear, "You have no mind of your own. Stay quiet and follow what others say, No outbursts, suppress your anger. Be a GOOD girl".

Why is it so?

Do girls have no mind of their own? OR this social construct is so strong that we are made to believe it all!

I am pained when I see young girls wanting to say so much and there is hardly anyone to hear them out. Its a sad and painful fact and I hate it the most.

Well! at the same time It may not be so gloomy all the time. A whiff of fresh air may change the entire scenario. AND thats what I am witnessing these days amid CAA agitations.

These days student agitations  in Universities, college and educational institutes of repute are giving us a strong message. Here come our Girls, vocal, strong and wanting to SPEAK OUT! They are breaking the gender stereotypes of  femininity that has caged their inner self over years together. These girls do not fear the brutal force of police. They are moving ahead with their voices becoming stronger day by day.

Sine days together, girls are agitating for their voices to be heard. They are Leading the agitations and have become a force to reckon with. They have clear goals and a clear voice to tell the world - What they Want! They are venting out their anger in open streets.

The  Politics apart, I see a kind of leadership emerging among these girls which makes me feel that the Year 2020 is definitely going to be the year of  leadership among girls that would soon take us to the goal of Gender Equality.

This is a beginning but did we not want  it to happen all this while!

Women in a yet another male dominated mold - AGITATION!
