Children at home of happiness orphanage during Christmas movie night .

Over the past six years of running a charity organization focuses on improving the well-being of children in different communities, my team and I have developed a special tradition. While our work throughout the year involves various programs and initiatives, we dedicate the month of December to something truly extraordinary.

December, being the festive season, is a time when people spend holidays with their families, share love, and create beautiful memories. Recognizing this, we decided to make December a month of connection, love, and joy for the children we serve. Each year, we plan a special event to remind these children that they, too, are deeply valued and loved.

Our tradition involves visiting orphanages, where we organize activities such as parties or large feeding programs. The idea behind this is simple yet profound: to let these children know that even if they don’t have traditional families to celebrate with, we are their family too. Through these events, we aim to show them that they are cherished and cared for.

This year, we wanted to do something different. On Christmas Eve, we hosted a movie night for the children at the Home of Happiness Orphanage in Zambia. This particular orphanage is home to children with various disabilities, as well as some without. We felt it was important to make this event special for every child there, regardless of their circumstances.

The evening was magical. We brought candies, popcorn, juice, and all the treats that make a movie night fun and memorable. The joy on their faces, the laughter, and the moments of excitement made it an unforgettable experience. It wasn’t just about watching a movie; it was about creating a space where these children could feel loved, included, and celebrated.

Our tradition is a reminder to us all that love and family go beyond blood ties. By spending time with these children, we show them that they are not alone and that there are people who care deeply for them. This December, like every year, reaffirmed why we do what we do: to spread love, bring hope, and make every child feel they are part of a bigger family.
