My name is Gold, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve been driven by a deep desire to give back to my community.
Growing up as the first graduate in my family, I was determined to create opportunities not just for myself, but for others around me. This passion led me to volunteer with several NGOs, including the Ven. Prof. T.N. Okujagu Foundation in Southern Nigeria, where I spent two years helping young boys and girls acquire essential skills like soap making, barbing, hair dressing, catering, electrical wiring and computer appreciation.
Sue to my love for giving back and volunteering, my journey didn't stop there. I joined Student Christian Movement of Nigeria (SCM) and helped them set up a chapter in the government University in my community. I went on to join Lush Foundation in Ekiti State formerly known as oasis empowerment network, where I currently serve and volunteer as the Project Coordinator.
Last year, we organized several impactful programs for teenagers. Every week, I led a team to the local community secondary school, where we taught students computer skills and shared the word of God.
This year from January till June, we were able to graduate two set of young girls from one of our initiatives called start sewing in 27 days(SS 27).
These experiences have enriched my life in ways I never imagined, reaffirming my commitment to making a positive difference. Each day as I walk on the street of my community I am so happy seeing some of these children greet me from a distance saying "aunty Gold, how are you? That gives me Joy no matter what and am greatful to God for the opportunity to serve others.
Now, I'm at a crucial juncture in my journey. After years of working on various freelancing platforms and assisting coaches as their Virtual Assistant, I’m ready to take the next step towards my dream of earning a Master’s degree.
It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve always believed that perseverance pays off. I was fortunate enough to secure a scholarship for my Bachelor's degree, and now, someone has graciously offered to assist with my tuition fees for my Master’s program.
However, there's one final hurdle I need to overcome: obtaining my passport. Unfortunately, due to an error by the immigration officers, I am required to pay $90 to correct the mistake and issue a new passport. I’ve already saved $20 through my online work, but I’m still $70 short.
I’m reaching out to this wonderful community on World Pulse, not just to share my story, but also to humbly ask for your support.
If at least seven people can help with $10 each, I will be able to complete this process and move one step closer to my goal.
I’ve always been someone who believed in giving back, and now, I find myself in a position where I need to ask for help.
I know that with your support, I can overcome this challenge and continue on my path to making a difference in my community.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and God bless you for any assistance you can provide.
