A light in the sky

When I look back at myself some years ago I see a young girl exploring her community and her world for the first time, through her eyes full of dreams. I still have those dreams well kept in my mind. However, when I was younger I couldn’t really understand that a lot of things were wrong in my community. Now I am aware of negative aspects of my world and I am ready to improve them and to help people living in a better way. I still have dreams but I have real projects, too.
I feel that everyone in his/her community has a role. I found my personal role in writing and informing people about both injustices and good examples. I do believe that written pages have a really strong power and they can really change people’s lives.

My aim is to write about women who have stories that need to be spread. I want to write about every woman who needs to tell something important to her community. I want to write about the baby, the young girl, the unemployed woman, the mom, the grandma, the worker, the bride, the daughter, the niece, and the sister. I want to write about the girl who never left her country and the woman who is always travelling. I want to write about the girl who cannot study because she has no money and about the scientist who discovered a new therapy to treat cancer.

However I do know that written words are not enough to make a real change. Written words are the starting point. Afterwards something else has to be done. I imagine this “something else” as a community of people who discuss about ideas and make these ideas become real. I think of World Pulse as the place where good ideas can be discussed to find solutions and to make people aware of injustices in their societies. I do trust in communication as the most effective tool to make a better world. We have a voice, we have million of voices and we have to use them to communicate with people and to change our lives. World Pulse should be our tool.

For the first time in my life I feel that I can really discuss about women within an international community, I feel that my world is the same as other people’s world. People from every corner have same aims, dreams, and injustices to fight against. Italy is India, Ghana, Colombia, and Siberia. Italian women are Americans, Brazilians, Germans, and Chinese. During last weeks we raised so important discussions in our World Pulse community, I do want to be part of it to discuss more and more and to learn from my fellow writers.

My country is part of the “developed world”, we are part of that small piece of world that has no to fight to have food, water, and medical care. Italian women are still struggling for their rights, though. Italian women face different problems compared to Ethiopian women, for instance, but still they need help from the international community, they need to discuss their ideas, they need new projects to make their lives better. Being part of Voices of Our Correspondent could help me and my fellow Italians to find solutions, discuss problems, and make our ideas become real. World Pulse is my inspiration. World Pulse is the whole world into a community of women who have same aims and dreams.
Last four weeks have been an incredible turning point in my personal perspective on women’s issues. Since beginning of September I started broadening my mind on women’s lives around the world and on their projects, problems, and achievements.

I think of World Pulse as a light starting into the ground and going up in the sky. As a light in the sky, people from every corner can see it. As a light in the sky World Pulse can give people confidence and peacefulness. I would like to be part of this light to give my community new hopes.
