STOPPP Emotional torture
9Sophia, a young educated girl from a middle class family, was full of life before marriage. She got higher education and had high ambitions and dreams about her future. She wanted to make an impact on entire world. But she was unlucky and her fate didn't supported her. A proposal came from a bad, toxic and manipulative family that ruined all her dreams.
As soon as Sophia married into the family, her mother-in-law, Rachel, made it clear that she was the queen of the house. At first, Sophia tried to brush off Rachel's constant belittling comments and criticism, thinking that it was just a generational gap. But as time went on, the emotional abuse escalated, and Sophia found herself walking on eggshells, never knowing what would trigger Rachel's wrath.
Rachel would mock Sophia's cooking, her appearance, and even her parenting skills. She would constantly compare Sophia to her own daughters, making Sophia feel inadequate and unworthy. Sophia's husband, John, seemed oblivious to the abuse, always dismissing Sophia's concerns and telling her to "just ignore" his mother.
As the years went by, Sophia became a shadow of her former self. She lost her confidence, her creativity, and her spark. She felt like she was living in a constant state of anxiety, never knowing when Rachel would strike next. Sophia began to doubt her own sanity, wondering if she was indeed the problem.
Despite her best efforts, Sophia couldn't seem to please Rachel. She felt like she was trapped in a never-ending cycle of emotional abuse, with no escape. The final blow came when Rachel convinced John to take away Sophia's access to their joint bank account, leaving Sophia financially dependent on her husband.
Sophia realized that she had to get out, but the damage had already been done. She felt like her whole life had been destroyed by Rachel's emotional abuse. With a heavy heart, Sophia made the difficult decision to leave the marriage, knowing that it would mean starting from scratch.
As Sophia slowly began to rebuild her life, she realized that the emotional abuse had taken a toll on her mental health. She struggled with depression, anxiety, and PTSD. She had nightmares and flashbacks about her past life. Whenever she stood in front of mirror , the crook and ugly face of her witch like mother in law haunted her and she ran to other room. But with the support of loved ones and therapy, Sophia slowly began to heal. She did meditation and journalling to express her thoughts. Years passed and she remained very painful during this process.
She learned to recognize the signs of emotional abuse and vowed to never let anyone treat her that way again. Sophia's story is a testament to the devastating effects of narcissistic abuse and the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing self-care.
Who allows these witch like mother in laws to treat young girls so brutally and destroy their lives forever? They should also be punished severely and such laws should be made in Pakistan and abroad.
