The prolonged silence on Familial sexual abuse should come to an end. A crime is a crime despite the question of who the perpetrator could be. A crime should be reported. It kills the social functioning of the victim to be under that circumstance whereby the perpetrator is a relative, family friend or religious elders. We have made to believe that if a crime like that is committed by a primary caregiver then the circumstances surrounding it is sensitive. However should victims suffer because they have been wronged by someone in the family or close to the family.
Therefore, this initiative is to encourage victims of Familial sexual abuse to find courage within and voice up. It's time to take action. It's time to seek professional help . It's time for movements to get hold of those who are nolonger hoping. It's time to educate the communities the impact of protecting a criminal within their walls because a criminal is a criminal despite who they are and their relations with the victim .
The consequences of Familial sexual abuse is known to be even more damaging because this extensively disrupt the child's course of development. Inorder to restore the social functioning of the victims , their voices should be heard and their silence should break and also the families involved should be able to support the victim not protecting the criminal.
Hence there is need to facilitate educational campaigns in communities and schools.
