Being more and more active online

Although facebook and twitter as well as some other forms of social media exist for ten years or more or slightly fewer, I only became a more active user of social media about a year ago. Some years ago, I only registered for facebook account but barely really used it for writing or reading purposes. I started by trying out playing some facebook games but of course, for now, I am not into playing online games.

As I get more used to social media as my group photos were being tagged, I began to take \"risks\" as I used to view it by posting my own individual photos online too. Last time, many years ago, I only wrote comments in forums, using nicknames or posting anonymously. There was this feeling of being shy to let online readers to see my photo or know my real name. However, things have changed now as social media develops and young people are treating it as a necessary communication tool and a social and even as a political platform to express their views, but responsibility is needed since everyone is no longer \"hiding\" behind a \"mask\"

During the process, I learnt more information and knowledge online and got to know of overseas and international online community forums and groups such as World Pulse.
There are many times that I knew online of activists or friends who work in non-governmental organisations or social groups who then added me as friend in facebook or following one another on Twitter.

Twitter chats as becoming something that is common for me, unlike the past as I viewed that facebook is still one social media more commonly used in my country. Singapore while Twitter is actually another tool that is rather normally used for chats with international organisations, for issues that people are concerned with, e.g. policies.

It is a learning process for me but online community remains a challenging internet space that many people find it easy to enter and we must always have a \"being alert\" mindset as the fact remains that there are all sorts of people around in a space that had no boundaries.
