Breaking Away from the Nightmarish Reality

Sex Trafficking is something that has been coming to my attention more and more in the past couple of months, or even years. I don't know when it all began but the main introduction that I had to this injustice was when my elder sister gave me the book, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas D Kristof & Sheryl WuDunn, and then immediately came the Freedom Project Documentaries by CNN on the same issue.

It gave me a whole new perspective to look at the world: through the eyes of the girls who have risen against the odds to show the world that they are not people to be fooled around with and also through the eyes of the girls who have had to accept their fate seeing no other way of living better lives. So when I was about to write my Unit 2 Coursework for my GCE A Level English Language, one of the main themes that I thought, and was also suggested, of writing about was Sex/ Human-Trafficking. It gave me a chance to navigate through this sector which has, for until only recently, seemed only a distant issue. While I was doing my work, I was faced with the scaring thought of how big this industry it is even in the country of my birth, Bangladesh, and that the next time I wake up from sleep, I could be part of the huge number of girls who are victims of this crime.

I,more than ever, wanted to give those numerous unsung victims a voice which they craved for. With that thought in mind, I wrote a narrative which arguably is one of my best writings yet. And I have attached that writing here for everyone to read, agree with and even disagree with..
