Women during the community dialogue on Food Inequality

Haki Nawiri Afrika and Safina Empowerment Organisation are the World Pulse Collaborative Initiative Award Winners 2024.This recognition stems from our collaborative work on climate change and agroecology as well as working with youth.

With the support from the Award, the two organisations have embarked on a series of community dialogues on food, agroecology and climate crisis, with the aim of transferring practical skills, providing space for experiential learning and documenting community experiences as part of advocacy. The first activity was dissemination of policy negotiation outcomes with the community, linking global processes with local realities.

The firs activity took place on 12th June 2024 in Muvuti/Kiima Kimwe Ward in Machakos County.Machakos is a semi-arid area in Eastern Kenya. The session involved discussions on climate change, agroecology and food inequality. It was also a platform to disseminate policy outcomes of the 1st Round of negotiations on Reducing Inequalities for Food Security and Nutrition.

The session had 58 participants (57 females:1 male). The implementing team utilised social media to engage more audience using the hashtag #FoodInequalityKE.
