When Michael Brown was gunned down in Ferguson, MO last summer, I chose to not deal with the situation by not talking about it and by not reading or listening to the news. However, when the police officer who shot him was not indicted, I could not longer ignore the situation. The poem, Coming Around, was written as a tribute to Michael Brown. I grieve for the family of this young man, another victim of police violence.
