Day-to-day Photographs

What is a regular working day like for me? Take the day I left Lanao del Sur after days of interviews and documentation. I left alone in the early morning hours on a motorcycle and took a bus in the next town. The conversations among bus passengers revolved around the bombing of a radio station the day before in the town of Maramag. Since the radio station, DXGT, was just across the Maramag bus terminal, I dropped by at the radio station to investigate. I learned that an employee was injured and hospitalized. The explosive device hit the windowfront by the announcer's booth. The supposed target was a hard-hitting radio program host who assailed the rampant illegal gambling in the town.
Then, I proceeded by bus to Malaybalay, where the entire afternoon I reveled in the intricate beauty of traditional mats hand-woven by the indigenous Tagolwanen women.
Such is the unpredictable nature of my daily work.Oftentimes, violence and beauty, humanity's dark and bright nooks, side by side, or one after another, all in a day.
