In a significant stride towards empowering the orphaned and less privileged youths of Edo State, the OrphanHub training programme was launched on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024.

The event, which held at the Edo State Innovative Hub, marked the beginning of a three-week journey designed to impart essential digital skills to orphans and underprivileged youths within the community.

The brainchild of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Emmanuel Nnaemeka Vitus, as part of his personal Community Development Service (CDS) programme, OrphanHub aims to equip participants with the digital prowess necessary for thriving in contemporary Nigerian society. Vitus, inspired by a childhood friend’s struggles, envisions a future where no child is left to the mercy of the streets due to a lack of support and opportunities.

Emergence of OrphanHub

In the aftermath of the Nigeria Insurgency Crisis in the North, East and South, a beacon of hope emerges in the form of a non-governmental organization (NGO). OrphanHub is committed to empowering the young minds that bore the brunt of adversity. Founded with a vision to bridge the digital divide, this organization dedicates itself to teaching essential digital skills to orphanages and underprivileged youths who endured the impact of this conflict.

In the classrooms of resilience, these children find not only a haven for learning but also a pathway to a brighter future. Through innovative programs tailored to their unique needs, OrphanHub equips them with the technological tools necessary to navigate a rapidly evolving world. Beyond the acquisition of digital skills, this initiative becomes a catalyst for healing, restoring a sense of normalcy, and fostering a community of support.

Objectives:

  • Digital Inclusion: Bridge the digital divide by imparting essential technological skills, ensuring that every child has equal access to opportunities in the digital realm.
  • Education Empowerment: Enhance educational outcomes by integrating digital literacy into traditional curricula, empowering children to excel academically and prepare for future careers.
  • Psychosocial Support: Provide a nurturing environment that goes beyond skills training, offering psychosocial support to help children cope with the emotional aftermath of conflict and displacement.
  • Community Building: Foster a sense of community among children, encouraging collaboration, mutual support, and the sharing of knowledge within the OrphanHub Foundations.
