Disabled women and politics

The Swedish election race has begun. Conferences, newspaper articles, speaker corners, concerts and political parties are being announced. In Sweden there is a fairly good gender balance and with this election a more visible participation of disabled politicians. Democracy is an ever ongoing issue, one to safe guard. There is one main worry in Sweden and that is the level of participation within the parties. Today there is only about 2% of the Swedish population active in politics. This means that 2% of the population elects those leaders who govern the country.

We women in this world have a duty to see that democracy is inclusive. That we women are active and supported through our networks. With this journal posting I want to raise awareness for us to actively include disabled women, women with various ethnic background, older women and women of all sexual orientation within politics, in other words to promote inclusive politics. Education of our children should leave them with awareness of diversity and the need for a tolerant world. Men have left us with a world torn by conflict and injustice. We can fix it through our strong networks and with inclusive politics! Thanks to World Pulse in giving us the opportunity to communicate for world democracy!
