You are a mistake

You are not suppose to be born

Your parents where looking for a male child that's why they kept giving birth.

Your family already have 8 girls, you will become the 9th girl( nonsense)

Your father does not have an heir (though he is not a king).

You will just join your other sister and hawk, when you are old enough to marry, get pregnant and start a family like others.

There's no money for high school not even any for college so don't think about it.

I don't think you will even be able to cope in school as you need to hawk daily before going to school.

Just give up already. You are just like every other girl child in the house.

These and more where the words I grew up with. Not from my immediate family members but from neighbors, school, and the community I grew up. So the once cheerful girl became so timid and shy.

My parents kept encouraging me and gave me all the support they could offer and I sang praises to them that one day, I will make them proud(the old peak milk advert).

I struggled through high school and eventually got admission to the University.

I applied for all the scholarships I could find on the internet in Nigeria and got one.

I am the first graduate in my family today and am glad I broke that chain.

My parents where proud of me but left earth due to chronic illness and I felt devastated for years.

But.. I rose up again and continued my journey.

Today, I have been able to manage over 15,000 teenagers in three different NGO's I have volunteered with and still do after growing from different position like student-secretary to program manager.

Today, am working towards furthering my education to PhD level not because of accolades but because I want to SERVE HUMANITY BETTER.

Today, I still join the team that goes to primary and secondary schools in my community to mentor young people and return home to work as a Virtual Administrative Assistant helping founders streamline their workload.

Today, I am still a young woman who still struggle with uncertainties but Happy for where God is taking me to.

Today, I have meet different kind hearted people, organizations like World plus and am happy to tell the world who I am and what I represent unashamed.

My story is still ON and am glad I am doing what I love daily.

So when I wear different shirts, volunteering and helping teenagers, I smile and thank God the privilege.

Now I can imagine how Mary Slessor felt when she finally abolished killing of twins in Africa.

Now I can imagine what Ruth Elton feels as she still does mission work in Nigeria though very old.

Now I can imagine how all the other amazing women missionaries, peace lovers and change makers are feeling even when they don't have everything figured out for them.

So much love we can give instead of hate.

So much peace we can experience when we do things for others.

The world is already filled with too much evil but we won't stop giving our all.

Don't Allow What You Go through Define You. You are not Alone.
