EMPOWER HER... Campaign to Combat Domestic Violence and Mental Torture

Save women from Domestic violence

Domestic violence and mental torture against married women are pervasive issues in Pakistan, affecting countless lives and perpetuating cycles of suffering. To address this critical problem, we propose the "EmpowerHer" initiative. Our goal is to create a safer and more supportive environment for married women in Pakistan, where they can live free from violence and fear while accessing the resources needed for mental and emotional well-being.

Initiative Objectives:

  1. Raise Awareness: Develop and execute a comprehensive awareness campaign to educate the public about the issues of domestic violence and mental torture faced by married women.
  2. Support Systems: Establish support systems, such as helplines, shelters, and counseling services, to provide immediate assistance and refuge to women facing domestic violence.
  3. Legal Advocacy: Advocate for stricter legal measures against domestic violence and mental torture, and provide legal aid to victims seeking justice.
  4. Education and Training: Develop educational programs and workshops aimed at changing attitudes and behaviors towards women, promoting gender equality, and preventing domestic violence.
  5. Community Engagement: Engage communities in open dialogues, encouraging them to condemn domestic violence and mental torture and provide a safe space for victims to seek help without fear.

Initiative Components:

  1. Awareness Campaign: Launch a multi-media campaign (TV, radio, social media, billboards, and community events) to educate the public about the impact of domestic violence and mental torture on women and society as a whole.
  2. Helplines and Shelters: Establish 24/7 helplines for immediate assistance and shelters where women can seek refuge, access medical care, and receive counseling.
  3. Legal Aid: Collaborate with legal experts to provide free legal representation to victims and push for stronger legislation to protect married women.
  4. Educational Workshops: Conduct workshops in schools, colleges, and communities, focusing on gender equality, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
  5. Community Outreach: Organize community meetings, seminars, and workshops to foster open conversations about domestic violence, mental health, and women's rights.
