Empowering Women Through Unity: My Journey of Resilience.

I am Chimda, and I have always understood what it means to face challenges with courage and determination. Growing up as the only female child in a family of six boys in Adamawa State, Nigeria, I am acutely aware of the cultural and traditional norms that often limit the opportunities available to women. In Northern Nigeria, societal expectations can be particularly restrictive, making it difficult for women to pursue their dreams. Yet, my journey has been defined by perseverance. I faced these obstacles head-on, carving out my path toward empowerment and independence despite the odds stacked against me. I know that the path to real change lies in collective action, bringing women together who share my vision of empowerment and progress. With a deep belief in the transformative power of unity, I sought to create a space where women could gather, support one another, and work together to break down the barriers holding them back. As the Executive Director of the Rural Agricultural Transformation and Empowerment Initiative (RATEI), my passion for empowering rural women became the foundation of my involvement in the women’s group. By equipping women with the skills, resources, and opportunities they needed, they could uplift not only themselves but also their families and communities. For me, joining a women’s group is about much more than personal growth, it is about building a network of strong, empowered women who could lead the way in creating a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
