I had the most amazing weekend, but sadly had to go bury my uncle in Mpumalanga. What I did not expect was to have my life changed in a day I had spend with my Cousin. To avoid being late, I had to sleep over her place which I must say that y I dreaded (not sure why, its just a strange thing that I had gotten used too that I am not quite as social as I appear to be)
So, I decided to sleep over and wow there it was \"Eye bags and Dimples\" by the most beautiful famous South African Actress 'Bonnie Henna\". I was so serenated by her style of writing to an extend that I couldn't even put the book down. I almost finished it in a day only that I had to attend the funeral and chat with my family members (most which we only see each other in funerals ;-(). For a very long time I knew that must weird behaviour especially of purposely pushing people away and wanting to be by myself at any chance I could get.
There in her book Bonnie reveals her struggle with Depression. Yes! I said it Depression in a black Community this has been seen as a White people problem not ours otherwise what is this depression anyway?
She shared about how her mothers abusive behavior and suicidal patterns lead to her being known publicly as a rude mean person whilst all she had was depression and she was just misunderstood.
I will like to open up a dialogue about depression, what are your thoughts on it?
