Figure in her shadow

Walk by the house and you’ll see her,
Look closer and you’ll see the tears,
Move closer and you’ll see the worries,
It is etched on her face, aging her,
It is the cries for her today,
It is the tears for her children,
It is the anguish of her pains,
It is the bolt on her mouth,
It is chains of restraint on her person,
It is the worry for her tomorrow,
Listen to her, and you release her tongue,
Be her voice, and shine a light in her world,
Give her heart its pulse, let her come alive,
Lend her a hand, and lift her children,
We are the weapon she needs,
the silver lining in her dark cloud,
I am the voice to tell her side of the story,
I am the figure in her shadow,
I am her tomorrow.
