As an Environmental Science graduate dedicated to sustainability from the beautiful land Nepal, my journey has been transformative and enriching. From my early days as an eco-volunteer to leading local green initiatives, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with young girls in Nepal, empowering them to become advocates for both environmental stewardship and peace. My dedication to environmental causes began with my involvement in the Environmental Leaders Program with WWF Nepal. This role was pivotal in shaping my understanding of environmental leadership and conservation. I participated in various projects that not only deepened my knowledge of environmental issues but also strengthened my commitment to community engagement. This early experience laid a solid foundation for my future endeavors in environmental education.

Currently, I am a city volunteer involved in green school initiatives, where I work with 27 girls in an eco-club at a local community school. This role allows me to make a direct impact on the next generation of environmental stewards. I guide students through practical activities such as waste management and water conservation, empowering them to become active participants in promoting environmental health within their community. The eco-club has become a vibrant platform where students engage in sustainability practices and develop leadership skills.

One of the standout moments of my journey has been organizing "Eco-Nation," a climate education campaign designed to reach and inspire young girls about climate action and sustainability. This campaign, which impacted 90 students, included workshops, interactive sessions, and community discussions aimed at fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership among the participants. The success of "Eco-Nation" highlighted the potential of young girls to drive significant change when given the right tools and knowledge.

Through these experiences, I have witnessed the remarkable impact of educating and empowering young girls. They have embraced their roles as environmental leaders with passion and commitment, demonstrating that, with proper support, they can make substantial contributions to their communities. The unity and purpose these students have developed underscore the profound effect of environmental education. My journey has been characterized by a steadfast commitment to sustainability and a dedication to nurturing future leaders. By emphasizing the role of girls in environmental initiatives and peacebuilding, I aim to inspire others to recognize and support the crucial contributions of young women in fostering a more sustainable and peaceful world.

As we approach the International Day of Peace and the International Day of the Girl Child, I am proud to share my story and the significant outcomes achieved through these initiatives. Together, we can continue to build a future where both our planet and its people flourish. The International Day of the Girl Child is a powerful occasion to celebrate the strength, resilience, and potential of girls worldwide. It is also a time to highlight the challenges they face and the barriers that must be overcome to ensure their empowerment. In my work, I have seen firsthand the transformative power of giving young girls a platform to lead and make a difference. Through the eco-club and other initiatives, these girls have developed confidence and skills that extend beyond environmental issues. They are becoming leaders who can advocate for themselves and others, challenge injustices, and inspire positive change.
