FUTURE IS HERS!

I grew up on a farm where although my parents in Zimbabwe, were average wage earners. Those living around me in the compound areas relied on the system to earn basic salary and cater for the needs of their families. I asked many times whilst growing up why my parents had decided to make us live in an awful environment away from city life. It is today that I realize the value these hard conditions have made me who I am, and the life lessons that have sailed me through economic hardships. Girls from the compound areas where mostly forced into marriage and with the few I had become friends with they all diverted their attention from school to having men in their life to cater for their needs. Education to them was not important but rather basic primary school was enough for them so that they learn to read and write for the sake of counting money which they got from their oppressive employers and husbands. I stayed on that farm for close to 13 years from 1993-2005.

I became part of the system, and because my parents were viewed as bosses I had most privilege’s given to me. It is now that I see that I was an ungrateful child, because looking back some children wanted to be just like me but I admired another lifestyle that was beyond my reach. I look back at the girl child who had to go look for men because it was the only way to survive and fend for her family. I look back and see that it is their life stories that have made me to be a CHANGEMAKER. I want people to embrace each stage in their life because it is a story that will impact the lives of others in the world. 

I want the girl child to know that she is loved no matter what...We are special and unique and we can achieve all that we want.
