Happy mother's Day!

When I was in your womb, yours was the first heartbeat I knew,
While I live in your heart, yours is the only love that is true.
When I was born into this world as I came kicking and screaming,
Being born to you was an honour, one that made me realise I wasn’t dreaming.

When I was a little girl and was full of many a question,
You were my pillar, my role model, my ever amazing bastion.
When I fell down and grazed an elbow or bruised a knee,
You wiped my tears and made me whole again – pain-free!

When I was eleven, not a child nor a teen,
You coated my simple life with a glamourous sheen.
When I was rebellious, annoying and bashful,
You let me be, letting me know that you still thought me beautiful.

When I grew up to be a young woman,
You groomed me forwards to make serve like a yeoman,
Whenever I stopped in my tracks,
When the world exposed all of my lacks,
You loved me whole, you loved me truly,
You loved me ever so unconditionally.

Whatever be my age, whatever be my wage,
However bent I maybe or if I have my own baby,
My guardian against life’s every storm,
My talisman in my heart – dear MOM,
You will always be my beacon of light,
The heart of my senses, the apple of my sight.

I love you Ma!
