Her menstruation a story

To the woman of yesterday who knew that her words could pierce the silence that buried her voice, to the woman who felt the need to lament yet those around her held her mouth tightly closed to stop her from telling her story, yet, she spoke anyway. I write this for you, the one who bled and broke the silence, told the world of how nature blossomed from within her. "Is nature not a marvel, a work that exhibits the beauty within me?" she asks her people "But why must I be silent about the flow that comes from within me" her questions made it uncomfortable for those who heard her, even her own kind felt humiliate, she spoke anyway.

Yesterday she pressed on this matter, raising questions where silence was expected of her only to remind the world that women can bleed and work, women can bleed and learn too. She found no shame in the very thing that defines her, the blood that never failed to visit every month as it reminds the world that she is beautiful from within. It was her zeal and determination that gave her the strength to tell the world of her menstruation story, the flow that defines her. She knew that her kind will join her in this race.

Today we run fast grasping her stick in this race, hoping to place it in the hand of another, we run a race for our own kind who bleed and must be silent. I see no shame and disgust in the very essence of womanhood, I see no guilt for those who must ask for a cloth to stop the blood. Menstruation should never have been a topic of shame but strength and joy for women each month.

We thank the woman who made the first sound, groaned and moaned for her blood. Today we echo her words to ensure that the women of tomorrow who will bleed and speak, she will bleed and learn. Her Period is her Pride
