Theme; Who am I –Journey of Self Discovery

The Day finally arrived  11th August 2018, being the first time  of Hosting such event , I was apprehensive of how the event will turn out. I  have gone shopping for the event a day before the event and was really tired, I planned given light refreshment, sent a reminder message to a couple of students invited. Woke up early to prepare the snacks, ( puff-puff) , the drink a local Chapman drink (Zobo) was prepared the night before and kept in the freezer to cool, all was done with the assistant of a friend.

It was an outdoor event, in a very serene environment, the proprietress of the school was one of the invited guest speaker, my husband and myself were the speaker at the event.

My honorable guest did not turn up ,until around 11am, the program ended up starting around 11.30am, it was a very impartful, one of its kind  event in the community.

First Lecture: Who am I –Journey to self discovery

Interactive session on Factors limiting youth in actualizing their dreams: Peer Pressure, unwanted pregnancy, HIV/Aids, Drug abuse, Child Abuse, etc

About Thirty six, youths were in attendance, and they all participated effectively, bearing their minds and asking mind bulging questions about their relationship with the opposite sex

From the theme of the event (who am i) the youth were admonished to:

1. Discovery early in life the right career path to take


2. Discover their passion and pursue it.


3. Be educated , no matter what you want to become


4. Rejoice in challenges


5. Overcome you fear of impossibility


6. Regular evaluation of one self


7. Be inspired by other people doing good thing.

  It was concluded that self discovery is a journey and as we constantly take inventory of our lives, we discover more things that we are called to do  as we grow.

\\The youth were also admonish about  learning a skill, going by the economic situation in Nigeria, there is need for sustainable education., that is, every youth need to be able to support themselves while studying , so that the burden of catering for their education will not be borne by parent alone. They were so willing to learn a trade such as barbing, make up artist, Tailoring etc

OUTCOME: We intend to support outstanding student, who will decide   to learn a trade with the equipment to start work upon graduation.

It was also proposed that a coding training will come up soon

SUPPORT:  Will need equipment such as sowing machine, Clipper, computers, make- up kits etc.

The service of a Volunteer Coding and ICT Trainer will be required; anyone with such skill should help in these regards.
