I saw the sunset today. The way Alesi sees the sunset from her village in the mountains that surround Nadi - the Nakauvadra Ranges. The Sleeping Giants.

From the coral coast, we end our day in these mountains with Alesi in Nagado Village in the district of Vaturu.

Like Elenoa, in Cuvu, Alesi is able to farm her family land after both her parents passed away. Her sisters are married. She is a single mum and a #proud DIVA for Equality FIJI  network member in her village.

She's created a lot of interest in the village with her agroecology skills, particularly the compost: "We need need more compost bins and seedlings for the women here. They have watched what I do and want to do the same," she tells - Vika/Kado who is conducting the interviews.

Now that's another wonderful reason that is inspiring me to write this week - I am the producer and driver. Making sure Jason our cinematographer/camera person has the time to think about his shots (yes investing in production and creativity) and supporting Vika/Kado conduct interviews for the film "I am a feminist journalist now too she says laughingly this afternoon"

But back to Alesi who rides her horse or treks down from her village to her 4 acres of cassava. She also plants "wet" dalo/rourou. These are the crops she travels by bus to sell in Namaka or Lautoka - it's no wonder that her vision is for a roadside market for all the women in her village so people can come and buy their fresh organic vegetables and crops!
