I STAND WITH WAR AFFECTED GIRLS & WOMEN
Apr 28, 2022
Story
In recent times, a small percentage of women in communities in the North West Region of Cameroon are gaining their respect, but they can be better. Attitudes towards women have changed, these are not ancient times, but conservative practices like child marriage, female genital mutilation, etc. are still prevalent. Due to this, girls are being denied from rights like education, nutrition, legal rights and medicine. But now with some little technological advancement, several efforts are being made to provide girls their rights and to make people aware of it. With the help of Mbiame New Vision https://www.facebook.com/mbiamenewvision/ , we are working in this direction and implementing various schemes.
Women are now leading in many global movements, on issues ranging from sexual and reproductive health rights to equal pay in Africa. Today, most of the girls are attending school and completing their studies, although with a lot of war crimes and Human Rights abuses still going on. This would have been the best time for North West women in Cameroon to focus on career development but is hard to acquire this especially in the two affected English speaking Regions ( North West and South west) due to the ongoing armed conflict affecting nearly all the families thereby rendering women voiceless and creating no room for advocacy, as well as limited or no access to Education, no Freedom of expression. Movement has equally been impaired, which makes it difficult to organise gatherings for knowledge sharing and carry out advocacy campaigns, all because of human brutality and his greedy nature. Although a small percentage of women in a few communities are not being forced to marry at a young age. Some movements are organised for adolescent girls and tackling issues related to child marriage, education inequality, gender-based violence, climate change, self-esteem, and girls' rights to enter places of worship or public spaces during menstruation. Girls are proving that they are unscripted and unstoppable. ~Tata~
