Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
Hello Community,

I'm Tugba. I was born in Turkey, and raised in Seattle. I'm currently a sophomore studying Criminal Justice at a university. I'm an ordinary young woman who migrated to America at a younger age to have bigger opportunities in life.
Being raised by a single mother who didn't speak a word of English had it's own set of difficulties. At the age of 14 I found myself travelling to various doctor appointments, court hearings, and any other appointments that family members had so I could translate from Turkish to English. I also had to pick up part time jobs throughout middle and high school to support my family. This is just a little part of my life situation. There is more but I don't feel comfortable sharing that on here just yet. Although I've had tough situations, I've realized that there are many lives out there encountering tougher situations than mind. I am forever grateful of everything that has come my way, because I believe that everything is a blessing in disguise.

In the future I hope to work with domestic violence victims, and young teens in the juvenile justice system. I believe that there isn't enough positive advocates in the juvenile detention system, and I hope to inspire and/or motivate kids to rise above the challenges. I also hope to inspire women to break free from the silence of abuse, and rise above that as well.

I hope I can contribute in this organization, and expand the opportunity for women all over the world to follow their dreams.
