Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
Hello!
I'm Kaitlyn from San Diego, CA, currently residing in the Dominican Republic where I have been serving in the Peace Corps as a Community Economic Development adviser for the past 2 years. My primary assignment has been to work with a women's group called \"Mujeres Hacia el Futuro\". The women of this group have opened my eyes to the hardships and oppression women face here in the DR, but also the opportunities they have to overcome these. I have loved working with this group and have become very passionate about women's empowerment and have been inspired to start a project called \"Somos Mujeres\" (We Are Women). \"Somos Mujeres\" unites women around the DR via conferences/workshops and empowers them to go back to their communities and make positive change. The women are amazing and the network they have created is awesome. The project is in its 2nd year and I love seeing it grow! So much so that I have decided to stay another year and take on the Program Coordinator role for my sector.

But enough about work! I'm not all work! I also love sports (pretty much anything adventurous) and reading and writing and learning and traveling and LOTS of other fun stuff :)

Can't wait to meet some cool people and share stories, successes, and resources!

My Passions:
