Introducing myself and my journal: Becoming a 'wakeful window'

About Me:
The term, \"wakeful window\", that I use to describe myself and my World Pulse blog, comes from Denise Levertov's poem, \"Seeing the Unseen.\" For me, the phrase evokes the vigilance and awareness that characterize my kind of reportage on women's worlds.

I am a freelance journalist based in Cagayan de Oro City, The Philippines. Close to my heart are the crisscrossing issues of gender, development, environment, human rights, conflict transformation and peace building.
I contribute news and feature reports to local and national outlets.

My Passions:
reading literature, listening to women's stories and documenting these; the visual arts, the sea and its denizens

My Challenges:
Sharing learnings to the next generation of women, surviving in the changed and changing scapes of journalism/new media

My Vision for the Future:
Gender Rights Worldwide

My Areas of Expertise:
reportage and documentation
