Introducing myself and my journal: Blossoming Beijing

About Me:
I'm a Brazilian-American, Beijing-based correspondent writing about food and consumption and how changing consumer tastes and demands impact our environment. Consumers can impact the environment by how we eat and shop, and as agricultural technologies and techniques evolve to become more sustainable, consumers can get involved in making smart choices, and by helping encourage sustainable practices. The developing world is a critical piece of the pie when it comes to environmental sustainability, and women are a critical piece of the farming, and shopping, story. Follow me as I discuss the ever-shortening chain between eating and the farm, and how women, as agriculturalists and as consumers, influence this chain of events.

My Passions:
travel, languages, eating, cooking, environmental issues

My Challenges:
engaging the hard-to-reach farming segment of Chinese society with new technology, and especially, identifying the women in this group

My Vision for the Future:
Farmers across the developing world utilizing Media 2.0 (not just the Internet, but mobile phones and social networking) to exchange sustainable best farming, food delivery and production practices

My Areas of Expertise:
editing, writing, Media 2.0, research, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, sustainable agriculture information sharing
