Introducing myself and my journal: Breaking Free

About Me:
A 27 year old lady who has been struggling, and is still struggling, to save my community as well as my direct family. The tradition of my country has given "parents" full authority on dealing with their children. There is no direct institution to speak to when the children are being abused, nor is there a housing facility for the abused. Many Kuwaiti youths are living in hell, because they are not allowed to "speak badly" about their parents. God forbid a young boy or girl should speak against their parents, they are forced to swallow the suffering even if it leads to death. If infact they speak out they find themselves cut off from society and regarded as a source of shame. The other scenario is that they would be on the streets since our multi-billion earning state has not provided its unfortunate citizens with a place to go for protection. Nor would they help in giving the abused financial support. They are TOTALLY under the mercy of the parents. Some of my friends have been tortured emotionally, and many of them have been physically abused as well. Of course we have a sound and reputable justice system. However, it takes several years for it to just "commence" . So what would become of the children during this period.
