Introducing myself and my journal: Girls Lead Too

About Me:
I'm the author of \"They Only Eat Their Husbands,\" a memoir coming soon from Ghost Road Press. At 26, after a lover threatened to kill me, I ran away to Alaska. This memoir explores my 9 years in the Last Frontier and my year backpacking around the world alone.

I'm the creator of \"Girls Trek Too,\" a blog and workshop dedicated to helping women create, survive and enjoy their own adventures. As an avid traveler and photographer, I've journeyed throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and most of the 50 United States. A sense of adventure has become my path to recovery, self-discovery and empowering others.

I've worked as a TV reporter in Alaska and North Carolina. My articles have appeared in such publications as the LA Times, Denver Post and Santa Fe New Mexican. I've written for shows on HGTV, Food Network and Discovery Health. I also write, edit and critique books and other projects for clients.

I got married at an active volcano in Costa Rica in 2003. My husband and I survived both dangers, and now live in Denver.

My Passions:
Storytelling is my passion. My life's purpose is communication, and stories are my means to that end. I believe stories, factual or fictional, are a path to discover the world around us and the world within us.

My Challenges:
I seek to empower women through my memoir, to write a historical novel that fosters understanding of the different cultures within American culture, and then to write a novel that focuses on a modern-day community in peril.

My Vision for the Future:
I envision a world in which clean water, green foods, unpolluted air and education are available to all people.

My Areas of Expertise:
Writing, Editing, Photography, TV Production
