About Me:
Worked with the British and Irish Agencies Afghanistan Group (BAAG) from 2001 to 2004 and after September 11th provided daily information to Government departments on the situation in Afghanistan.
Seconded to the Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief (ACBAR) in Kabul where Jeanne assisted the new Director with office systems, website, training and the ACBAR newsletter.
Produced the AfghanLinks e-newsletter – and wrote the editorial (published since October 2004) that provided up to date information on security, cultural issues and humanitarian needs the Media, NGOs and researchers.
First visited Afghanistan in 2000. Went to Badakhshan, to report on agricultural projects, and Kabul; last visit to Kabul and Kandahar in April 2008. Visit to Kabul organised for January 2012.
Brief Career History and Education
In addition to Afghan work and writing I have many years of experience in business, in particular in marketing, selling and buying. For four years I worked for Zambia Engineering Services on copper and coal mine contracts funded by the European Union, the International Reconstruction and Development Bank and the African Development Bank.
BA (Hons) 2.1 - from the University of Kent at Canterbury - in the History of Central Asia since the Moghul era through to the Partition of India; her university education included the study of Islam.
