Introducing myself and my journal: I'm Dancing to Solve all the Probelms in the World-

About Me:
Hello! My name is Deborah Dauda. Am Nigerian-American, I grew up in different parts of Nigeria and attended Tender Touch College in Festac Town (Lagos), then attended Lawndale High School in the U.S and graduated in 2004. Thereafter I went to El Camino College then transferred to UCLA to pursue my B.A. in International Development and a concurrent masters in African Studies and Public Health from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) Fielding School of Public Health and the International Institute. I am an avid dancer- and will practically dance to anything with high energy and great vibes. As an artist, I am passionate about using the arts as a conduit for social change and overtime, I have learned to consolidate my professional dance background with my academic background. For me, its difficult to address something alone- the only reason I am where I am today is because I had/have cheerleaders, fans, mothers, fathers, mentors, friends, sister, brother, and teachers who were always there, guiding me and providing support. It does take a village to raise a child and I am no exception. My greatest accomplishments have been possible through teamwork and collaboration and I am a sucker for these processes- because that's the best way to find lasting solutions, especially in areas that concern women and children. Furthermore, one of my proudest life event is my natural birthing experience with a midwife and a Douala. I believe as women, we need to be more aware of the choices we have, our rights to exercise those choices and our rights to challenge the choices that does not advance our social, health, and economic well-being.
