Introducing myself and my journal: It's time!

About Me:
I supervise a dating abuse prevention team called the Young Adult Abuse Prevention Team (YAAPP). We are part of Family Crisis Services, the domestic violence resouce center in Portland, Maine. We are involved in policy at the local and state level, classroom education, curriculum development, discussion groups, and direct service to young women in abusive relationships. Two of our initiaitves are focused on involving young men in ending violence by broadening their awareness of violence against women and offering ways that they can change social norms through simple actions, like speaking out against sexist jokes.
As part of my work, I present on the topic of domestic violence to health care practioners, college students, and faith-based groups. I am always encouraged by peole's response to learning more about domestic and dating violence.

My Passions:
Creativity in many forms. Human rights.

My Vision for the Future:
A world without violence.

My Areas of Expertise:
Community Education
