Introducing myself and my journal: Lady Abolitionist

About Me:
Having been raised in Ethiopia as a child of a development worker, I gained a global outlook at a young age. After witnessing poverty and injustice in its various forms, I knew I wanted to make a difference in the world. While in university I learned about modern day slavery, and have since discovered my passion to be the fight against sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. My husband and I drove across Canada in the fall of 2009 and made a documentary about sex trafficking in Canada, and started a blog about the issue at www.hopeforthesold.com.

My Passions:
Writing, photography, travelling (adventure-style!), learning new languages

My Challenges:
To not fall victim to sensationalism but to discover the truth about sex trafficking and how to stop it

My Vision for the Future:
End sex trafficking and the exploitation of women and children

My Areas of Expertise:
Writing, politics
