Introducing myself and my journal: ONE VOICE FOR AFRICA

About Me:
Its been an adventurous ride. I woke up to life realizing my parents were no longer going to be a couple. I met my dad at the age of 16 for the first time. The only thing that made sense of it all, was the fact that I had to be here for a reason, hence my journey to discover that reason began quite early. I've set very high standards for myself and I've failed and fallen short. Living with various cultures at various times in my life, i know though not all fingers are equal (they could never be), everyone deserves a chance. The African society as it currently is, is almost designed to keep perpetuating the cycle of poverty. I told myself I was going to be different and I reached as high as I could at every step of the way. I may not have attained those heights but I've built strength ,known love and met some wonderful friends along the way. I have learnt compassion from failing, I've come to know how to enjoy the journey. I look forward to an Africa where our children will have an equal chance irregardless of whether the spoon in their mouth is silver or plastic. I am hope and hope is the possibility of greatness. Greatness not just for myself but for those around me. I live for the joy of being part of the greater good and owning pair of Gucci shoes someday. I've learnt to embrace life where I am and love the Africa into which I was born. I've travelled. My mind has been exposed to what we as a people could be. Therefore, I see Africa with the eyes of hope and excitement. There must be more, there is in fact more if and only if we do not stop reaching for it. I have been labelled as being biased towards the girl-child, i don't mind for I know being woman is beautiful. Pictures tell a story, stories build hope and inspire people. As a little girl I watched a series of a young female lawyer named Ally Mcbeal, and I wanted to become like her. I did become a lawyer. Generosity has been the ultimate mantra of my life. It has the been the bridge through which I advanced from one level to the other. Generosity is a language all peoples and cultures understand. In a nutshell that has been my journey so far. Join me as we hold hands together and change the world.
