First story
About Me:
Iam kenyan, and i grew up in harsh conditions of poverty.I have 7 sisters and 4 brothers .In my culture girls are there to be seen and not to be heard! The girls were not considered as deserving inheriting anything from their family,s property. As amatter of fact the girls were treated more like chattels foe sell. The dads would want to marry them offto some rich man so that they could gain a lot in form of dowry.Marraiges werte arranged with or without the girls, consent.i watched my own mother abused by my dad for years because she did not give birth to boys.I developed a passion to help women and the girl child.
My Passions:
My passion is to be the voice for my voiceless sisters ,that is women at large
My Challenges:
It has been an uphill task to get an education to the level where i can offer help and legal support for oppressed women
My Vision for the Future:
I long to use my lawyering skills to help advance the cause for women and to try and fight for passage of legislation that would ensure that the women,s rights are taken care of not just on paper.
My Areas of Expertise:
I HAVE DONE A LOT OF COMMUNITY AWARENESS SEMINARS FOR UNDERPRIVELEDGED WOMEN AND GIRLS EVEN TAKEN CASES ON PRO-BONO BASIS TO FIGHTFOR THE AFFECTED WOMENS RIGHTS.
