Introducing myself and my journal: The Perspective of a Queer West African Woman



About Me:
Dear sisters,



I am quite delighted to join this amazing community! My name is Mariam. I am a queer young woman originally from Burkina Faso, West Africa, but currently living in California. I am the founder of the Gay African Youth Networking Center, a non profit organization working to provide a safe and supportive space to LGBTQI West African youth. Specifically, I aim to empower young queer women to understand their needs, to build a strong voice and advocate for their rights.



My Passions:
Women's rights, youth movement, LGBTQI rights, Human rights, Body and sexuality rights



My Challenges:
Ignite the voices of queer young West African women



My Vision for the Future:
Respect and Freedom for LGBTQI communities in West Africa
