About Me:
Helen was born in Melbourne, and grew up in Hong Kong and Beijing. She is studying International Politics and Sociology in The University of Hong Kong, and will be the first student from Hong Kong to exchange in Uruguay.
Helen initiated and conducted a two-year field research on gender equality in primary education in Northern China at 16. She co-initiated the UNIT-E magazine to empower youth expression and encourage service, and assisted leadership training and action research of migrant children in Beijing. While engaged in grassroots educational outreach on girl’s rights in Ghana, she also facilitated social innovation trainings in Hong Kong. Helen is the Delegate and Ambassador of China in the G(irls)20 Summit, and a representative in the Global Youth Summit 2012. She currently assists a refugee youth integration program, and is conducting her independent research on the identity reconstruction of young African refugees in Hong Kong.
A dreamer of world equality, unity, and peace for humanity, Helen believes in the remarkable power of grassroots participatory development in giving voice, especially to the marginalized, to shape and drive the global development agenda.
