Introducing myself and my journal: Voices

About Me:
Hello! My name is Christina. I am the single mother of 2 beautiful children who have grown into independent, artistic and adventurous young adults. This has been a magical year for me as I've finally realized goals and dreams and am bursting at the seams to continue my adventures. I went to Kenya for a month to do research and aid work with the organization I volunteer with. We traveled to remote areas to interview girls escaping from early marriage and FGM. I then went on my own to South Africa to do volunteer work at a daycare in the townships for 5 weeks. These experiences have made a huge impact in my life and while I have always known deep within my heart that I was called to do humanitarian work, that journey confirmed the idea. I met so many young children and girls who struggle every day just to get an education. They have stories filled with courage, determination, strength and love. I cannot give each of them the money they need to overcome their odds, but I can give them the voice they need to tell their stories to the world. My mantra is: I AM the change. I AM making a difference. And I look forward to this incredible new journey that I've begun.
