Introducing myself and my journal: Waving from India

About Me:
I grew up in Bombay and moved to the US to study communications and theatre. Then worked at Berkeley Community Media, a public TV station near San Francisco, as a manager for almost six years. At BCM, I learned about the concept of using media as a tool for change and enabling local residents to voice their concerns.
I researched Indian media policy at the graduate level in San Francisco State University and became keen to return to India where the field is still burgeoning.
Last year I was thrilled to have received a Digital Media and Learning competition award (sponsored by the MacArthur Foundation) which funded my project (WAVE) for its first year. I am now exploring sustainability options to continue the successful pilot project.

My Passions:
Creating, empowering, sharing, learning

My Challenges:
Funds, writing, infrastructure

My Vision for the Future:
A support system for alternative voices in India

My Areas of Expertise:
Community Media, editing video, organising
