Introducing myself and my journal: Women Empowerment

About Me:
Born in a rural environment in Kenya- East Africa, experienced gender discrimination at a very early age where girls education was extremely remote. However, through hard work and sheer luck I managed to go through school and was among the first women to join university from my village in the late 70s.

My career and work is on empowering women to realize their full potential and to always stand up and fight for their rights. Life in a patriarchal society can be a challenge for women. It is only through education and information that women can be empowered to be in charge of their lives and to be free from the social, economic and cultural chains that have dogged them for a long time.

I am currently a lecturer at a public university in Kenya and the Chairperson of Association of Media Women in Kenya.

My Passions:
To be a responsible leader and mentor

My Challenges:
Gender discrimination, lack of resources, patriachy, gender stereotypes

My Vision for the Future:
A just society where equity and equality is real

My Areas of Expertise:
Gender Communication, Research, eduacation, information and communication
